NYSATE Section 7 - Engineer of the Year

Engineer of the Year - 2007

Angie's PictureSection Seven is pleased to present Angela Decker as our Engineer of the Year for 2007.  Angie began her career with the Department in 1984 as a TCI-I and has worked her way through the Technician ranks to her current position of Civil engineer I in our Regional Transportation System Operations Office. She became a member of the Transportation Engineers in 1990 and has been a very active member.

In 1991 Angie answered the call when Section 7 began to form committees for Conference 54 in Lake Placid. Angie worked hard to make the Spouses/Social program very successful. The conference was held in February of 1994 in an Olympic town and the list of possible activities was endless. Her commitment to making her committee’s activities come together was relentless.

Angie was again ready for the challenge when committees were formed for Conference 65.  Though the Conference was held in May of 2005, as you know, the preparation began long before that. This time she took on the challenge of the Program Booklet and assisted the Technical Program Committee as well. When another committee needed assistance, she jumped right in to help meet their deadline.

Angie supports her family’s activities in any way she can. Her son is an avid hockey player and her daughter a figure skater. She can often be found at two different ice rinks on the same day. Angie volunteers for the committees and also sits on many of the Boards for these organizations.

Angie also chairs the Supervisory Committee of the State Civil Service Employees Federal Credit Union.  This oversight committee plays a vital role in ensuring that the Credit Union is being operated properly.  She is willing to adapt her endeavors to wherever they are needed most. Whether it is delivering Girl Scout cookies, working a figure skating fund raiser, running a Credit Union meeting, or a Cabin Fever Picnic, Angie will always bring energy to the event.

Angie and her husband Steven reside in Adams, NY with their two children Tyler and Jacquelyn.

Congratulations Angie!
